In CoD Modern Warfare 4, while the campaign mode may occasionally restrict your weapon choices based on mission requirements, you will generally want to equip the most powerful firearms available.
Even if you are a veteran of Call of Duty series, the sheer variety of weapons and the refined combat mechanics in Modern Warfare 4 can make it challenging to identify the best options right from the start.
To help you out, IGGM has selected four meta weapons based on the current version of Modern Warfare 4. Below, we rank them from fourth to first, along with recommended attachment setups for each.
-
ISO Nightshade
-
HAN 86
-
VEL 46
-
M4

4. ISO Nightshade
If you frequently play public matches in Modern Warfare 4 or are looking for an accessible SMG, ISO Nightshade is an excellent choice.
If you participated in the beta, you may have already experienced its power firsthand. Although the SMG was toned down following the game’s official launch, it remains a top-tier pick for close-quarters combat.

For attachments, we recommend ZLR Carbon-900 barrel, which boosts ISO Nightshade’s damage range and bullet velocity.
While this slightly reduces mobility, a longer barrel is essential for extending your effective range and increasing lethality at a distance.
Harbinger ORC70 muzzle attachment helps control vertical recoil, making ISO Nightshade more precise and easier to handle.
For the underbarrel slot, IGGM suggests FSS Fireline Grip; it improves recoil control while ADS and enhances overall accuracy, giving you an edge in longer-range engagements.
It is also worth noting that you can opt for a no-stock configuration. While this comes with some drawbacks, it significantly boosts mobility, a trade-off well worth considering if you prioritize speed.
If you haven’t used this SMG before, or if you are using a different attachment configuration, it is best to buy MW4 bot lobbies to test the setup in a controlled environment and get a feel for it before taking it into live combat.
3. HAN 86
As a highly lethal assault rifle in Modern Warfare 4, HAN 86 is a popular choice for both Multiplayer and DMZ modes, thanks to its exceptional reliability and minimal recoil. Its only real drawback is a slightly steeper learning curve.
To further reduce recoil, you can equip ZLR Type C optic; alternatively, if you opt for a red-dot sight, you can adjust its position to be closer to your character’s viewpoint.

Equipping SA H8 465mm barrel increases both the weapon’s effective damage range and its muzzle velocity. While this heavy, long barrel does come at the cost of some mobility, this can be offset by your other attachment choices.
For the muzzle attachment, you can choose between FTAC Dominion, which improves recoil control while aiming down sights, and ZLR REVERB90, which focuses on managing vertical recoil.
Additionally, FSS TAC90 grip helps minimize reticle sway and weapon shake while aiming. For the rear grip, XRK Justice 2 improves your ADS speed, though it does slightly compromise recoil control.
Although this weapon can be challenging to master, consistent practice will pay off. Its stable, powerful performance will not only help you secure victories in Multiplayer but also assist you in successfully extracting with valuable CoD MW4 DMZ items for sale.
2. VEL 46
This SMG boasts some of the best movement and ADS speeds in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, significantly enhancing your character’s overall mobility. It is also quite easy to unlock, you only need to reach Level 5 in Multiplayer mode to gain access to it.
If you want to further enhance the weapon’s mobility for close-quarters combat, start by equipping a 30-round magazine, followed by VB-46 Series 11 barrel.

For the muzzle, choose Haebang ORC70; it effectively controls vertical recoil and improves accuracy, giving VEL 46 a competitive edge even at medium to long ranges.
Finally, select LM Combat Grip for the rear grip to increase ADS speed, and use EXP U-Turn Stock to boost movement speed while reducing reticle sway and weapon shake when aiming down sights.
Alternatively, if you want to maximize VEL 46’s raw firepower, you can modify the setup above by swapping out the magazine attachment for High Velocity rounds, which increases muzzle velocity.
1. M4
You may have already used M4 in Modern Warfare 4, it is an incredibly versatile assault rifle capable of handling almost any combat scenario.
Like VEL 46, M4 offers different attachment configurations depending on your preferred playstyle. To prioritize mobility, start by skipping any optics and relying on the iron sights.
Next, equip ZLR Drift 16.5 barrel to improve movement speed, ADS speed, and sprint-to-fire time. For the muzzle, use ZLR Reverb90 to help manage vertical recoil.
For the underbarrel, choose FSS TAC90 grip; this helps minimize reticle sway and weapon shake while aiming down sights, much like the setup for HAN 86, ensuring that your first shot is as precise as possible during long-range engagements.

As for the second configuration, it is designed to increase your chances of winning long-range duels in Modern Warfare 4. While this setup slightly reduces the rate of fire, it is well worth considering for the long run.
You can choose whichever optic you feel most comfortable with, but be sure to mount it as far forward on the rail as possible. For the barrel, opt for the heavy, long-range 18-inch LE Crosswind to boost muzzle velocity and extend the effective damage range.
Next, select FSS Fireline underbarrel grip and High Velocity ammunition to further increase muzzle velocity. Finally, equip Schlager STB rear grip to improve aiming stability and enhance flinch resistance.
That covers everything for this guide from IGGM. Of course, regardless of which weapon you choose, feel free to adjust the attachment setup based on your own needs and playstyle, after all, it’s all about securing the win!
